Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the ESP Wi-fi Car Controller app for mobile devices, created by Taner ŞENTÜRK (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as a Free service. This service is intended for use "AS IS".

1. Information Collection and Use

The Application does NOT collect any personal information from its users. The Application does not gather information about pages visited, time spent, device IP addresses, or operating system data.

The only data stored by the Application is entered directly by the user and includes:

The Application communicates exclusively with devices on the user's local private network via the WebSocket protocol. All communication occurs within the local network only.

The Application enforces strict local network restrictions through built-in IP address validation. Only the following private IP address ranges are accepted:

192.168.x.x Home and office Wi-Fi networks
10.x.x.x Corporate and private networks
172.16.x.x – 172.31.x.x Private address range (includes iPhone hotspot: 172.20.10.x)

The Application is designed and intended to operate exclusively within private local area networks. The Developer bears no responsibility for any consequences arising from attempts to use the Application outside of a local network.

⚠️ Note: The developer bears NO responsibility for any consequences arising from circumventing or bypassing these network restrictions through VPN tunneling, port forwarding, or any other method.

6. Supported Devices

The Application is designed to work with any IoT development board or single-board computer capable of connecting to a local Wi-Fi network and running a WebSocket server. This includes but is not limited to:

  • ESP32-based development boards capable of running a WebSocket server
  • ESP8266-based development boards capable of running a WebSocket server
  • Deneyap development boards (ESP32-based boards developed for Turkish national education and Deneyap workshops)
  • Raspberry Pi with Wi-Fi and WebSocket server software
  • Arduino (used for motor control in conjunction with a Wi-Fi-enabled microcontroller such as ESP8266 or ESP32)
  • Any compatible Wi-Fi-enabled IoT board with WebSocket support and GPIO pins for vehicle control

The Service Provider makes no warranties regarding the compatibility, reliability, performance, or safety of any third-party hardware used with this Application.

The Application requests only the following Android permissions:

Required to establish WebSocket connections with IoT devices on the local network and to send real-time control commands.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
Required to check whether the device is connected to a network before attempting a connection.
ACCESS_WIFI_STATE
Required to verify that the device is connected to a Wi-Fi network.

The Application does NOT request access to location, camera, microphone, contacts, storage, or any other sensitive device resource.

The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. All user data is stored locally on the user's device using:

The Service Provider has no access to any data stored by the Application. Data is never uploaded, backed up to external services, or shared in any way.

10. Opt-Out Rights

You can stop all collection of information by the Application easily by uninstalling it. You may use the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network.

Users can also delete all stored data at any time by navigating to: Android Settings → Apps → ESP Car Controller → Storage → Clear Data

11. Data Retention Policy

All data stored by the Application remains on the user's device for as long as the Application is installed. The Service Provider does not retain any user data on external servers, as no data is ever transmitted outside the user's device.

12. Children and Age Requirements

Age Policy:

• This Application is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older.

• Users under the age of 18 may only use this Application under the direct and continuous supervision of a responsible adult.

• The Application does not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from any user regardless of age, as no personal data is collected at all.

Due to the nature of this Application — which involves real-time control of physical hardware such as vehicles, robots, and IoT devices — the Service Provider strongly recommends that all users under 18 years of age operate this Application only under adult supervision.

If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child is using this Application unsupervised, please ensure that a responsible adult is present and in control at all times.

14. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Turkey. Any disputes arising from the use of this Application shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Turkish courts.

15. Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes to the Privacy Policy by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy.

Changes will take effect when the updated Privacy Policy is presented to the user within the Application upon the next update or launch. Continued use of the Application following any such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy is effective as of April 2026.

By using the Application, you are consenting to the processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by the Service Provider.
